After European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde made a statement on the central bank’s digital currency (CBDC) last week, the Stellar (XLM) community on Reddit began to speculate if the digital euro would be published on the Stellar Lumens blockchain.
One Reddit user, as well as a member of the Stellar community, could not deny the notion if the central bank agreed to take advantage of the ‘public-private partnership’:
"They will not tear down the system while it is secret again. The whole secret of the current financial system is its biggest issue and why no one trusts ban members. The money will be available to the public, trusted by all parties, ” @u/radublebea.
Interestingly, the community is excited because Lagarde last week also emphasized a number of conditions that are very close to Stellar Lumens ’features: the ability to complete transactions, cross-border remittances, and the ability of the medium of exchange.
The average Stellar supporter believes banking institutions would choose to use a private blockchain to host the CBDC.
However, they did not rule out if the digital euro could interoperate with other CBDCs or could be converted to cryptocurrencies on the Stellar Lumens blockchain, Ethereum and others.
At the time of writing XLM was trading at $ 0.46 with an increase of almost 9% in 24 hours.
