AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd (AAAGL), the holding company of the aviation firm under Capital A Bhd, announced the formation of 4 new board members of the company ahead of the reopening of Malaysia's aviation border.


In a statement issued by AAAGL, the formation of the new board members is one of the initiatives that reflects the company's commitment in moving towards growth and high standards of corporate governance.


The appointment was made following the announcement of the appointment of Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim as the company's independent non -executive chairman.


According to Tan Sri Jamaludin, the new board member has been selected based on due diligence based on experience, talent, gender and culture that will encourage AAAGL to move forward.


The following are the 4 new board members appointed by AAAGL:


1. Suvabha Charoenying, 58 years old from Thailand


35 years of experience as an investment banker.

23 years of experience in investment banking.

6 years of experience in asset and fund management as well as lender officers.

Formerly held a position as an officer at the Securities Exchange Commission of Thailand and Bursa Thailand

2. Lim Serh Ghee, 62 years old from Singapore



Former president at Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd (ST Aerospace) from 2014 to 2020.

Former chief operating officer of Singapore Tech Engineering Ltd.

3. Francisco Ed. Lim, 67, from the Philippines


Experienced in corporate law and litigation.

Formerly led the team that handles the largest capital market related transactions in the Philippines.

Former President and chief executive officer of the Philippine Exchange from 2004 to 2010.

Former co-chair of the supreme court approving regulations on e-commerce as well as notary public subcommittees.

4. Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, 55 years old from Malaysia


A Malaysian chartered accountant and Australian CPA fellow.

Former President of the Malaysian Olympic Council and the Malaysian Badminton Association.

Former Chairman of the National Sports Institution.

Former Honorary Treasurer of the Football Association of Malaysia.

 Former President of the Commonwealth Sports Association of Malaysia.

Former President of the Royal Malaysian Polo Association.

Former board member of the National Sports Council.

Meanwhile, Tan Sri Jamaludin also expressed the company's readiness on the reopening of international borders and growth in the Capital A group ecosystem as well as opportunities for the establishment of new partnerships and ventures across Asean.


In addition, its subsidiary, AirAsia Consulting has acquired a 3rd party airline partnership.


While the food and beverage restaurant division, Santan and AirAsia SEA shared services division will continue to grow in line with strong consumer demand.


As of noon today, Capital A shares were up 1.6% at 63.5 sen with a market value of RM2.56 billion.
