Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) expects the company's performance to improve by April 1 when the country's borders are reopened which will further increase the movement of international passenger traffic.
MAHB chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said in a statement that the reopening of the border would be a turning point for the Malaysian economy.
He added that he expects an increase in international passenger traffic.
He also added that MAHB fully supports the government's efforts by ensuring the quality of service at the airport is at the best level to receive many passengers in the coming months.
MAHB is one of the largest airport operator groups in the world in terms of the number of passengers handled.
It manages and operates 39 airports in Malaysia and one international airport in Istanbul, Turkey.
For information, before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, Malaysia received 26 million tourists, generating RM86 billion in tourism expenditure.
In a separate news, Capital A (AirAsia) also expressed its happiness with the reopening of the country's borders.
A statement by AirAsia said they welcomed the announcement and were committed to providing the best service to receive more tourists into and out of the country.
It is common knowledge that AirAsia has started some of its international services before.
