‘Okay to put a Moderna brand‘ chip ’near your child?’

Moderna Inc. stated its Covid-19 vaccine produced an immune response in children under 6 years of age during a final-stage trial that showed moderate effectiveness in reducing Omicron infection.

In the experimental stage, the study was conducted on more than 7,000 children aged 6 months to 5 years who received 2 doses of vaccine with a dosage of 25 micrograms.

Laboratory test results found that the injections successfully produced higher levels of protective antibodies than previous trials on young adults.

Moderna also stated that the test results were found to be effective in preventing Covid cases involving the Omicron variant.

The injections showed an efficacy level of 43.7% for children aged 6 months to 2 years, and 37.5% for children aged 2 to 5 years.

Based on the positive vaccination results for the children under the age of 6, Moderna stated that it will immediately send the data to regulators in the United States (US) and around the world.

In addition, the company also said it would apply for U.S. clearance for its vaccine on children ages 6 to 11 after getting regulatory approval.

The company’s CEO, Stephane Bancel said it was good news for parents who have children aged 6 and under.

He added that so far no new side effects or safety issues such as heart inflammation were detected in the test, only common fever occurred about 17% in the younger age group as well as 15% in the older age group.

Meanwhile, shares of Moderna slipped 4% during yesterday’s closing session, making a total loss of 30% since pendemic concerns eased.

Meanwhile, according to notes Sam Fazeli and John Murphy, Bloomberg Intelligence analysts, results that are ‘below 50% effective in general’ cannot be approved.
