The Stock Bounced From Losses Since The Beginning Of The Week

 At 9.10am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 8.38 points at 1,594.19 from Tuesday's close of 1,585.81.


The index opened strong 2.97 points at 1,588.78.


It opened higher as a result of positive market sentiment as investors closely followed world equity markets.


On the broader market, investors saw gainers outpacing losers by 279 to 103, while 213 counters were unchanged, 1,708 untraded and 13 suspended.


Total turnover at 278.91 million units worth RM141.4 million.



Public Investment Bank Bhd said the local bourse picked up a positive Wall Street signal overnight, as investors expected a tightening of Federal reserve (Fed) monetary policy.


In addition, Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice -president of equity research, Thong Pak Leng said due to the volatile trading session, the index is expected to be at 1,580 to 1,595 on Wednesday.


Heavyweights saw Maybank and IHH Healthcare up 5 sen at RM8.88 and RM6.56 while PBBank, PChem and CIMB added 4 sen at RM4.66, RM9.62 and RM5.34.


Active stocks saw CSH add 2 sen at 18 sen, TWL reached 0.5 sen at 6 sen, ATA IMS jumped 3 sen at 43 sen and AT remained at 2 sen.


On the index board, FBM 70 gained 85.65 points at 13,622.74, FBM ACE reached 66.68 points at 5,502.09, FBM Emas index strengthened 57 points at 11,359.28, FBM Emas Shariah index jumped 49.84 points at 11,964 and FBMT 100 index declined 60.77 points at 11,059.28.


In terms of sector, the Products and Services Industry index jumped 1.36 points at 203.17, the Plantation index decreased 17.54 points at 8,035.79 and the Financial Services index jumped 116.62 points at 16,702.60.
