Ukraine Dissatisfied Nestle Still Continues Business In Russia

The world's food giant Nestle is facing increasing pressure urging it to stop all business activities in Russia as a sign of opposition to the country's attack on Ukraine.

The company’s refusal to leave Russia has caught the attention of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky who mentioned Nestle’s slogan, ‘Good food. The good life ’, as not symbolizing his actions.

Zelensky's statement follows comments made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal last week criticizing Nestle CEO Mark Schneider over his company's stance in doing business in Russia.

The Swiss company earlier this month stopped shipping non -essential goods to Russia but continued to sell items such as wedge food, cereals and pet food in the country.

What does Nestle say?

Following the call, Nestle responded by saying it was not profiting from business activities remaining in Russia.

Like other food companies that supply residents with essential food, it also doesn’t mean Nestle continues its business as before, according to a company spokesperson in an email.

He added that they are doing what they can in Ukraine and neighboring countries to help alleviate this humanitarian catastrophe. Nestle is still one of the most active food companies in Ukraine and sometimes manages to distribute food in Kharkiv, he said.

Nestle is one of the few companies that has suspended new investments and advertising in Russia but continues to sell products in the country.
