US stocks closed lower, Dow Jones down 0.58%

 At the close of the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones fell 0.58%, the S&P 500 fell 0.04%, and the NASDAQ Composite fell 0.40%. Chevron Corp was the top performer among the components of the Dow Jones index today, up 2.92 points or 1.81% to close at 164.65. Quotes Dow Inc rose by 0.96 points (1.54%), closing trading at 63.35. The Travelers Companies Inc rose 2.27 points or 1.26% to close at 182.58. The losers were Boeing Co shares, which lost 6.94 points or 3.60% to end the session at 185.89. Home Depot Inc was up 3.35% or 11.41 points to close at 329.33, while Salesforce.com Inc was down 2.33% or 5.10 points to close at 213.70.


Leading gainers among the S&P 500 index components in today's trading were Marathon Oil Corporation, which rose 8.58% to hit 25.06, Occidental Petroleum Corporation, which gained 8.41% to close at 60.97, and also shares of Mosaic Co, which rose 8.25% to end the session at 67.20. The biggest losers were Nielsen Holdings PLC, which shed 6.91% to close at 22.75. Shares of Gap Inc lost 4.98% and ended the session at 14.70. Quotes of Lennar Corporation decreased in price by 4.67% to 88.22. Leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were Neurosense Therapeutics Ltd, which rose 299.36% to 6.23, Clarus Therapeutics Holdings Inc, which gained 58.44% to close at 1.22. as well as shares of Yumanity Therapeutics Inc, which rose 58.04% to close the session at 1.77.


The drop leaders were Vallon Pharmaceuticals Inc, which shed 68.95% to close at 2.31. Shares of Allena Pharmaceuticals Inc lost 43.16% to end the session at 0.28. Quotes of Imperial Petroleum Inc decreased in price by 36.71% to 1.50. On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that fell in price (1924) exceeded the number of those that closed in positive territory (1289), and the quotes of 94 shares remained practically unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2,464 companies fell in price, 1,443 rose, and 177 remained at the level of the previous close. The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, fell 1.42% to 23.53, hitting a fresh monthly low.


Gold futures for April delivery added 0.33%, or 6.40, to $1.00 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude futures for May delivery rose 7.13%, or 7.35, to $110.44 a barrel. Futures for Brent crude for May delivery rose 7.60%, or 8.20, to $116.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, in the Forex market, the EUR/USD pair remained unchanged 0.31% to 1.10, while USD/JPY advanced 0.26% to hit 119.49. Futures on the USD index rose 0.29% to 98.51.
