Forbes Announces 12 Young Billionaires Under 30 For 2022

Forbes' 2022 World's Billionaires List saw 12 individuals under the age of 30 make their way to the millionaire title for the first quarter of 2022.


Among those listed are 4 students who were expelled from Stanford, 2 ex-food deliverymen and a crypto nerd slave.


Together, the pool is worth US$25.8 billion, representing 0.5% less than the 2.668 billionaires listed by Forbes.


According to Forbes, Gary Wang, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of cryptocurrency exchange, 28-year-old FTX topped the chart.



Meanwhile, FTX's co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sam Bankman-Fried, who just turned 30 last March, is on the list with a net worth of US$8.7 billion.


In addition, 27-year-old Ryan Breslow, who stepped out of Stranford to form the fair-paying software company Bolt before taking the CEO role this year, is also on the list.


Two more former Stanford students, 25-year-old Pedro Franceschi and 26-year-old Henrique Dubugras were also listed when their credit card startup Brex hit $12.3 billion earlier this year.


Each of them is estimated to have a net worth of $1.5 billion each.


Altogether there are 7 self-made millionaires under 30 years old on the list, overtaking the 5 designated wealth heirs.


Stanley Tang and Andy Fang (29 years each) co-founded food delivery app DoorDash in 2013 with Tony Xu, with their estimated net worth of $2 billion each.

Austin Russell (27 years) is a self-made billionaire who founded the automotive sales firm, Luminar Technologies with a net worth of $1.6 billion.

David Lehmann, 19, who has interests in a chain of German drugstores, his father's dm-drogerie market with a net worth of $2.4 billion.

Gustav Magnar Witzoe (28 years) heir to one of the largest farmed salmon operations in the world.

Wang Zelong (25 years) who inherited interests in 2 Chinese chemical companies.

Alexandra and Katharina Andresen (25 and 26 years old respectively) from Norway.
