'Many countries have started buying this Paxlovid pill, Malaysia is there any plans to buy it?'
Pfizer Inc is said to have produced 6 million pills of the Covid-10 antiviral Paxlovid in the first quarter, further achieving the goal set by Executive Chairman Albert Bourla.
According to Pfizer spokeswoman Sharon Castillo, the drug company has shipped the pills to more than 26 countries so far.
Bourla has in a recent statement said they expect to produce around 120 million pills this year with another 30 million to come in the first half of 2022.
To date, the United States (US) has purchased 20 million of these pills with the first 10 million expected to be delivered towards the end of June.
About 1.4 million pills have been circulated in the US to date.
For knowledge, Paxlovid is expected to be an important tool in the fight against Covid-19 after he succeeded in reducing hospital admissions for high-risk patients by 90% in his clinical trials.
The study also found results were significantly better than Merck & Co's rival antiviral pill molnupiravir in clinical trials.
Generally, the kingdom of Malaysia still hasn't made any purchases of Paxlovid pills but the country across from us, Singapore has passed the pills and received the first batch of pills last February.
