Investors Anxious Bloody Exchange Earlier In The Week

At 9am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was down 1.26 points at 1,545.50 from Friday's close of 1,546.76.


The index opened 0.41 points lower at 1,546.35.


The bourse opened weaker with the key index falling 0.81% influenced by declines in selected heavyweights.


On the broader market, investors saw gainers at 187 outpacing losers at 133, while 217 counters were unchanged, 1,764 untraded and 64 suspended.


Total turnover at 155.46 million units worth RM46.78 million.



Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd’s note noted that investors breathed a sigh of relief for a moment when Wall Street closed higher, in addition to news of slowing inflation and strong retail earnings.


Nonetheless, the KLCI is expected to rise today as the regional performance is positive and the index will be in the range of 1,540-1,555.


Heavyweights saw Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) and Public Bank Bhd fall 1 sen to RM8.98 and RM4.61, IHH Healthcare Bhd lost 5 sen to RM6.55 and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) fell 3 sen to RM9.22 while Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd rose 6 sen to RM10.04.


Active stocks saw Green Packet Bhd, Sapura Energy Bhd and Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd add 0.5 sen at 8.5 sen, 8.5 sen and 11.5 sen, SDS Group Bhd rose 2.5 sen at 40.5 sen and Cnergenz Bhd gained 1 sen at 63.5 sen.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index rose 2.88 points at 11,014.0, the FBMT 100 index jumped 0.53 points at 10,708.21, the FBM Emas Shariah index added 4.19 points at 11,396.08, the FBM 70 jumped 38.35 points at 13,136.19 and the FBM ACE reached 36.59 points at 5,183.29.


In terms of sectors, the Products and Services Industry index drove 0.58 points at 199.99 while the Financial Services index declined 2.41 points at 16,642 and the Plantation index declined 18.95 points to 7,990.77.
