At this time, the world just wants to 'breathe' again, and has not yet fully won against the Covid-19 virus, now a new epidemic has emerged that is once again threatening the well-being of the world.

The epidemic in question is monkeypox and according to the World Health Organization (WHO), the virus can be curbed with the right response even though it is usually difficult to detect outside Africa.

Below is a summary of monkeypox quoted from the WHO.

First detected in monkeys in Africa.

Just like common smallpox but less dangerous and difficult to spread.

The mode of transmission is through contact with the clothes or towels of a person infected with the virus, and touching smallpox and the patient's wounds directly.

In some cases, the patient's cough and cough can also spread the virus.

Symptoms include fever, headache, swelling, muscle aches, fatigue, rash on the face or hands and feet.

So far a total of 18 countries have detected the monkeypox virus across 3 continents namely Europe, the United States and Australia, and 237 cases have been reported worldwide outside of Africa.

Among the latest the Czech Republic as well as Slovenia reported their first cases on Tuesday, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) became the first Middle East Gulf country to record such a case.

According to UAE health officials, the identified monkeypox case was brought in by a traveler who visited West Africa recently and was receiving treatment.

In addition, the UAE government is fully prepared to deal with the outbreak and will implement an early surveillance protocol to detect the disease.

In the meantime, the WHO is serious about this matter and will announce its vaccination plan to curb the spread of monkeypox around the world.

Meanwhile, the German government has started its own initiative by ordering 40,000 doses of Imvanex vaccine used to treat common smallpox while France has also announced a vaccination campaign.
