Amazon To Start Shipping Parcels Using Drones

‘Cool, you don’t have to go down to see the last courier.’

Amazon.com Inc's plan to use drone services to deliver parcels to consumers will be implemented as early as this year.

It is understood that the drone delivery service by the e-commerce giant will be started in the city of Lockeford, California.

According to a statement from the company, users in the city of Lockeford can already start registering for the service on the company's official website.

Amazon added, the drones used have been programmed to drop packages on customer pages for more than 4,000 populations in Lockeford.

The drone will also fly without the control of a visual observer and only guided by sensors to avoid other aircraft, people, animals and any obstacles in ensuring the customer's parcel arrives safely in less than 1 hour.

It is common knowledge that Amazon has long planned the drone delivery service but was disrupted due to several unavoidable factors.

Scanning records, Amazon was once accused of creating cheap publicity by stating rumors of offering drone delivery services that were considered impossible at the time.

The matter has been slammed by former boss and founder Jeff Bezos who promised to fill the sky space with drones in 2013 and in 2019 he said again Amazon would launch drones within ‘a few months’.

Then in April came news of security concerns over drones that once again hampered Amazon's plans.

Even so, starting next month, Amazon's plan to apply for drones will be implemented and this will definitely affect the company's financial performance for the next quarter.
