‘This hot issue, what is the secret behind the detention?’

One of the staff of the Bloomberg news agency detained on charges of threatening China's national security has been released on bail.

Journalist Haze Fan, a Chinese national, was arrested by the government in July 2021 on suspicion of committing crimes that could endanger national security.

He was among 127 media personnel who have been detained, arrested or deported by the Chinese government for allegedly disseminating government confidential information to foreign countries.

According to Bloomberg, Fan was released on bail last January but they could not confirm why the news had just spread now.

In addition, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has also refused to issue any official statement involving Fan's release so far.

For the record, during Fan’s last detention the Chinese government had given the excuse of ‘internal affairs’ and prevented any outside interference.

At that time, China was also conducting a 'campaign of repression' around the world against media personnel, especially journalists.
