‘Flexing the latest way is to buy crypto food.’
Digital payment provider, Flexa confirmed that fast food chain from Mexico Chipotle accepts payments in the form of cryptocurrencies.
This was stated by Flexa via a tweet on Twitter stating that starting June 1, all 2,950 Chipotle restaurants in the United States (US) will accept crypto payments through its application.
Clearly, among the major cryptocurrencies supported for payment are Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and 7 other stablecoins including USD Coin (USDC).
Bitcoin, but make it ** burritos. **
We’re delighted to share that @ChipotleTweets is now accepting payments in #bitcoin, #ether, #dogecoin, and more, exclusively through Flexa. https://t.co/W0ktwPX7i3

Despite this, Chipotle has not provided any information on this matter.
This is not the first time Chipotle has ventured into the world of cryptocurrencies.
Previously, the restaurant chain had organized a program called ‘Chiptocurrency’ with former Ripple Chief Technology Officer (CEO) Stefan Thomas in April 2021.
The program, celebrated in conjunction with ‘National Burito Day’, offers BTC worth $ 100,000 along with a free burito to players who successfully guess the code.
It was inspired by the experience of Thomas who lost 7,000 BTC for forgetting the password for his cryptocurrency wallet.
In addition to Chipotle, other fast food industries are also seen vigorously joining the crypto heat.
Burger King has partnered with Robinhood trading platform in November 2021 by providing BTC, ETH and Dogecoin (DOGE) for free with every purchase.
Not to forget McDonald’s which filed its restaurant trademark application to be brought into the metaverse last February.
Apparently, although the crypto market is bearish but its acceptance is very widespread in the US and is expected to become a new payment medium in the future.
