The Exchange Bounces Back After Opening Low

 At 9am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 5.22 points at 1,531.15 from Tuesday's close of 1,525.93.


The index opened 0.03 points weaker at 1,525.90.


The bourse opened lower before rebounding later with the support of buying interest at selected heavyweights ahead of the release of some economic data this week.


On the broader market, investors saw gainers at 130 outpacing losers at 121, while 213 counters were unchanged, 1,810 untraded and 9 suspended.


Total turnover at 140.64 million units worth RM61.89 million.


Note Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd expects trading to remain slow on the local bourse ahead of the release of Malaysian unemployment rate data, European Central Bank (ECB) interest rate results and inflation data from China and the United States (US).



Even so, based on the surge on Wall Street overnight they expect investors to pay attention to the tech sector.


In addition, they also list the consumer sector, REITs as well as transportation and logistics.


Heavyweights saw Malayan Banking Bhd add 4 sen to RM8.88, Public Bank Bhd gained 2 sen to RM4.54, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd rose 9 sen to RM9.95, IHH Healthcare Bhd jumped 1 sen to RM6.51 while CIMB Group Holdings Bhd lost 1 sen at RM5.05.


Active stocks saw LGMS Bhd advance 7.5 sen at 57.5 sen, Dynaciate Group Bhd gained 1.5 sen at 18.5 sen, Sapura Energy Bhd lost 0.5 sen at 4.5 sen while Impiana Hotels Bhd and Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd remained 3 sen and 11.5 sen respectively.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index rose 29.33 points at 10,970.91, the FBMT 100 index added 30.67 points at 10,660.23, the FBM Emas Shariah index jumped 38.07 points at 11,314.86, the FBM 70 jumped 15.09 points at 13,287.37 while the FBM ACE declined 0.05 points at 5,249.83.


In terms of sectors, the Financial Services index drove 30.24 points at 16,577.02, the Plantation index added 48.65 points at 7,835.57 and the Products and Services Industry index recovered 0.53 points at 197.66.
