‘Perghh, I want to enter the metaverse and go to school.’
Meta Platfrom Inc in collaboration with digital training firm in France, Simplon will launch a ‘metaverse academy’ for the academic calendar next year.
It is believed that the launch will make it a first in the world since the introduction of the idea of a metaverse virtual world pioneered by Meta Platform in October last year.
According to Meta's Vice President in Europe, Laurent Solly, the school's objective in its first year is to train 100 students for free involving 2 streams, namely technology developers and support and assistance technicians.
Simplon founder Frederic Bardeau commented that the teaching method will be made face to face and project -guided with a focus on the 3 -dimensional (3D) world, in addition to interacting in the virtual world.
In addition, the school is said to train 20 students in every major city including Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Nice each year as well as targeting a 30% participation quota of the first group being women.
According to Solly and Bardeau, the metaverse school is open to the public regardless of the applicant’s CV and supports positive discrimination.
In the meantime, this latest plan is seen in line with Meta’s aspirations of wanting to create 10,000 jobs in Europe within 5 years of metaverse development.
Meta and Simplon state that 80% of the careers that exist in 2030 have not been created yet but they emphasize the need to develop training schemes starting now.
