The world's 'fallen' streaming leader, Netflix Inc. revealed the prices of advertising subscription plans and ad placements for its service in the United States (US) and around the world.
According to company insiders, Netflix will offer the ad-supported streaming service at a price tag of $7 to $9 (approximately RM31.39 to RM40.39) which is half of the original price of $15.49.
In general, Netflix's main goal in introducing ad support on its service is to offer cheaper monthly subscription plans in order to attract more users.
It comes on the heels of a drop in user numbers Netflix experienced earlier this year, causing the company to post its biggest loss in its history, in addition to increased competition from Amazon and Disney.
Back to the original title, the company said the full launch of the ad support plan is expected to be implemented as early as next year as Netflix is currently 'meeting' with its business partners.
In addition, the source also said that the display of advertisements will last for 4 minutes per hour and will be shown before and during the story.
In the meantime, Netflix's decision to offer ads has brought good news to advertising companies as they can now move from cable TV services to the much wider streaming industry.
As of this writing Netflix shares are trading down 4.57% at $223.28 with a company capitalization of $99.29 billion.
