Brain chip implant developer Synchron Inc was 'proposed' by the world's richest billionaire Elon Musk after his Neuralink continued to lag behind in the race for direct human-to-machine communication technology.

According to sources, Synchron's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thomas Oxley has been contacted by Musk and is having discussions about potential investments that are expected to reach a conclusion in the near future.

It was a string of Musk's frustrations with Neuralink's current performance which he described as 'very slow' and 'lagging behind'.

As context, during the 2019 public presentation Musk aimed for Neuralink to get regulatory approval by the end of 2020 and during the Wall Street Journal conference he expected human testing to begin in late 2021.

However, Neuralink has so far failed to get its application approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin human trials.

The string, it is not surprising that Musk is seen to be interested in Synchron since the company successfully created a brain implant without the need to cut into the skull to install it.

In addition, Synchron is also understood to have successfully implanted its output device in patients in the United States last month after receiving FDA approval in 2021 and completing a study of 4 people in Australia.

On the other hand, this is not the first time Musk has tried to buy Neuralink's competitor, where he previously tried to buy brain technology company Paradromics Inc in 2020.

So far, representatives of Musk and Neuralink have not released any further statements including Synchron's about their meeting.
