Ukraine Blocks Crypto Wallet 'Volunteers' Helping Russian Army

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) successfully blocked a digital crypto wallet involved in the financing of the Russian military for the first time.

In this case, the owner of the crypto wallet is a man who calls himself a volunteer.

This is because, since the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the volunteer has been collecting money for the invading army. In fact, the seized wallet was found to have $19,500 in cryptocurrency.

Not only that, volunteers also buy military equipment for L/DNR terrorist organization militants, use social media platforms to incentivize visual or video content to fund illegal armed groups including keeping followers informed of how the money is spent.

Additionally, the security service shared that foreign crypto companies assisted it in tracking and arresting the owner of the wallet.

Now, $19,500 worth of cryptocurrency just has to wait for a decision on its tracking and transfer to Ukrainian jurisdiction.

Clearly, since Putin's invasion of Ukraine, cryptocurrencies have played an important role in the war on both sides of the conflict.

As evidence, the Ukrainian government is benefiting from crypto initiatives that seek to support the country's military capabilities, while the Russian government is accelerating the rollout of its digital ruble to avoid economic recession.
