The international football governing body, FIFA did not lag behind in launching the FIFA+ Collect NFT platform in September with a football-themed digital collection even though the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is only two months away from kick-off.

According to FIFA, its features feature affordable, inclusive and accessible NFTs including depicting football moments, art and imagery.

When the World Cup will take place in Qatar at the end of November, moments from the world's most prestigious football tournament will also be converted into a digital collection.

In context, NFTs are blockchain tokens that act as proof of ownership over digital assets such as art, profile pictures or video game items.

As such, FIFA+ Collect will run on Algorand's proof-of-stake Ethereum blockchain and the alternative Solana developed by MIT professor Silvio Micali, even Algorand has been FIFA's official blockchain partner since May.

Meanwhile, FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai stated that the NFT will provide a great opportunity for fans around the world to engage with their favorite players, collect exciting moments and more.

He added that more details about the FIFA+ Collect launch collection as well as NFT-type teasers that will be launched throughout the World Cup will be announced soon, and the NFT platform will be broadcast on FIFA+, which is the organization's platform that broadcasts live football games, news and games.

It can be explained here as well, Algorand has been in the headlines since the beginning of this year due to acquiring the digital music sharing service Napster and partnering with LimeWire which has launched a music-based NFT market by featuring the works of artists under the Universal Music Group label.
