A group of hackers called the Belarusian Cyber Partisans managed to sell a non-fungible token (NFT) displaying the passport of the Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko.
According to Belarusian Cyber Partisans, the move is part of a fundraising campaign to fight the bloody regime in Minsk and Moscow.
In fact, hackers have hacked into a government database containing the passport information of every Belarusian citizen to enable him to launch a collection of NFTs called Belarusian Passports as well as digital passports that supposedly display Lukashenko's real information.
However, some observers claim that the information on the digital passport is false due to a transcription error on the cover of the word "Republic" and a misspelling of "Aleksandr".
Despite this, the hacker was steadfast in his decision to sell the collection of NFTs on Lukashenko's birthday through the Opensea market, but the plan failed after the sale was closed immediately and is now in the process of finding other options.
He added that the Belarusian Cyber Partisan will also sell NFTs that display the passports of other government officials, including offering the passports of Lukashenko's closest allies and traitors to the people of Belarus and Ukraine.
At the same time, all funds raised will be used to support his work in eliminating the bloody regimes in Minsk and Moscow.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for OpenSea once told Gizmodo that the project violated company rules because it should not disclose other people's personally identifiable information without their consent.
In context, Lukashenko is a somewhat controversial figure and has led Belarus since the country's founding in 1994.
Although elected on the premise of fighting corruption, he has organized the Crime and Corruption Reporting Project aimed at rigging elections, torturing critics and arresting and beating protesters in the past.
The justification, the main goal of the Belarusian Cyber Partisans is to eliminate the dictatorial regime including refusing to submit to the country by forming self-defense as a response of the people to the violence unleashed.
