'Looks like this blockchain-based game is alive again.'
English Premier League champions for the 2019-2020 season, Liverpool FC become the new face of Sorare's non-fungible tokens (NFT) trading platform.
According to Sorare's official statement, his side and Liverpool FC have signed an exclusive multi-year agreement that will see the production of trading cards in the form of NFT playing 'The Reds'.
The partnership will see NFT trading card owners gain benefits such as a visit to Anfield stadium, match day experiences including merchandise and exclusive video content should they become champions of the online game.
For information, this is not the first time Liverpool FC has been involved with Sorare where in 2021 the platform once released The Reds trading cards.
Meanwhile, Sorare's average NFT sales in August have dropped to $86.16 from a high of $280 during March.
The NFT craze was in full swing earlier this year, and Sorare didn't want to be left behind by incorporating sports into the blockchain technology.
At that time, Sorare had reached a cooperation agreement with some of the biggest sports leagues in the world including Major League Baseball (MLB).
On the other hand, the British watchdog is said to be investigating Sorare for allegedly running gambling activities on their online games.
In response to the charges, a Sorare spokesperson insisted that their games are not based on gambling and have enlisted the services of special officers to ensure that all business is conducted legally.
