The South Korean government's official YouTube channel has been targeted by hackers for posting cryptocurrency-themed videos with Elon Musk, the world's richest man and a crypto enthusiast.

As proof, the channel title on the video sharing site was successfully changed to "Spacex Invest" in the early hours of Saturday morning.

In fact, the live cryptocurrency broadcast has featured an interview with Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of SpaceX.

According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, employees of the department responsible for managing the YouTube account became aware of the situation at 6am.

Following the incident, all parties immediately implemented security measures and regained control of the channel at around 7:20 am.

Also explained, the main speculation that can be made is that the ID and password were taken because Google, the parent company of YouTube, confirmed that the channel was hacked.

Therefore, the company is in the process of making a more thorough investigation of the hacking issue that occurred so that the same problem does not repeat itself.

Apart from the aforementioned hacking incident, a YouTube channel maintained by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) was also hacked earlier this week.

The channel, which has more than 500,000 members, was targeted by hackers on Thursday and the following day. As such, Google immediately disables access to the account as soon as unusual activity is detected.
