After 16 years of its establishment, Twitter Inc finally introduced an update button (edit) that is often requested by users for the convenience of correcting any typos.

The good news was announced by the company saying that paid users of 'Twitter Blue' will be allowed to change or edit tweets made several times within 30 minutes after being displayed (post).

According to a Twitter spokesperson, edited posts will be labeled to indicate that they have been updated or changed and users can see the history of display changes when pressing the label.

This means users who subscribe to Twitter's $4.99 per month service can only access the facility while the fate of other free app users remains unknown.

For the record, Twitter has often been criticized and condemned by a number of users for not providing an edit button on their application.

Other social media platforms such as Meta's Facebook and Instagram to Reddit and Pinterest have long provided their users with edit button functionality for ease of correction years ago.

In order to defend itself, Twitter said that the decision to introduce the edit button took a long time because they feared it could encourage the spread of fake news.

As of this writing, Twitter shares are trading down 0.39% at $38.62.
