Weird Right! Let's take a look at the stock market movement at the beginning of the week

 Bursa Malaysia started the week's early trading session on a positive note, driven by positive momentum against some counters despite weak Wall Street performance.


At 9am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 1.88 points at 1,493.06 from Friday's close of 1,491.18.


The index opened 0.85 points higher at 1,492.03.


In the broader market, losers at 156 outpaced gainers at 110, while 195 counters were unchanged, 1,825 untraded and 19 suspended.


Total revenue at 166.7 million units worth RM46.58 million.


According to Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd's vice president of equity research, Thong Pak Leng, there is positive momentum on the transport and logistics counter as well as telecommunications and media.



Following that, the firm projected that market interest would shift to the construction sector with reports speculating about the 15th general election.


As for the movement of the index, the KLCI is predicted to be in the range of 1,485-1,505 today.


Heavyweight shares saw MISC Bhd reach a limit of 17 sen at RM7.13, Axiata Group Bhd up 1 sen at RM2.99, Maxis Bhd jumped 1 sen at RM3.74 and Public Bank Bhd also added 1 sen at RM4.68 while Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) fell 3 sen to RM8.96.


Active stocks saw SNS Network Technology Bhd advance 1 sen to 27.5 sen, Vortex Consolidated Bhd fell 0.5 sen to 16 sen, BCM Alliance Bhd lost 0.5 sen to 2 sen and Hextar Industries Bhd lost 0.5 sen to 40.5 sen while Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd remained at 2.5 cents.


On the index board, the FBM Emas Index expanded by 3.72 points at 10,559.25, the FBMT 100 index gained 4.49 points at 10,314.26, the FBM 70 declined by 29.03 points at 12,532.12, the FBM ACE index decreased by 18.98 points at 4,787.70 and the FBM Emas Shariah index weakened by 6.20 points at 43,593.


In terms of sectors, the Plantation index weakened by 9.48 points at 6,948.36 and the Products and Services index decreased by 0.06 points at 180.16 while the Financial Services index gained 29.66 points at 16,793.67 and the Energy index strengthened by 3.29 points at 700.36.
