China's Economic Activity Back to Extinction

China's economy continues to be in an uncertain state due to the zero Covid-19 policy practiced by the world's second giant economy.

Most recently, data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed that manufacturing activity in the country contracted again in October, dropping to 49.2 from the previous record of 50.1.

In addition, the services sector also showed contraction with a record 48.7 from 50.6 recorded in September.

A reading below 50 indicates a contraction in activity, and conversely a reading above that number displays an expansion.

This shows the continued impact of the zero-Covid policy that is limiting growth in China's economic activity.

As of last week, 31 cities had implemented various levels of restrictions or district-based control measures affecting around 232 million people.

With new restrictions in place in the city of Wuhan, analysts expect economic activity next month to be even worse.
