 The excellent performance of Wall Street is reflected in the local market ahead of the central bank meeting of the United States (US) and Malaysia.


At the opening, the FBM KLCI index opened 3.63 points at 1,450.94 before rising 6.10 points at 1,453.41 compared to Friday's close at 1,447.31.


In the broader market, gains at 279 offset losses at 107, while 259 counters were unchanged, 1,717 untraded and 66 suspended.


Total revenue at 282.44 million units worth RM114.74 million.


According to Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd, major US equity indices rallied over 2% following strong corporate earnings results but investors are still awaiting the FOMC meeting to gauge the overall economic outlook.



In addition, the situation is almost the same in the local market with investors predicted to carry out election-themed stock market buying activities ahead of the 15th General Election and the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting the day after tomorrow.


Heavyweight stocks saw Maybank add 5 sen to RM8.63, Public Bank Bhd up 9 sen to RM4.47, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd gain 8 sen to RM8.86, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd gain 3 sen to RM5.59 and IHH Healthcare Bhd up 7 sen at RM6.02.


Active stocks saw Ta Win Holdings Bhd up 0.5 sen at 7.5 sen, Tanco Holdings Bhd up 2 sen at 37 sen and Top Glove Corp Bhd gained 2 sen at 81 sen while Jade Marvel Group Bhd lost 0.5 sen at 28.5 sen while Harvest Miracle Capital Bhd remained at 13 cents.


On the index board, FBM Emas index gained 90.88 points at 10,366.28, FBM 70 added 96.35 points at 12,332.93, FBMT 100 index jumped 93.40 points at 10,108.25, FBM Emas Shariah index gained 85.11 points at 10,407.62 and FBM ACE gathered 29.09 points at 39,910.


In terms of sectors, the Financial Services index jumped 144.68 points at 16,530.72, the Energy index gained 1.39 points at 698.96, the Products and Services index rose 1.30 points at 176.75 and the Plantation index gathered 31.34 points at 6,874.39.
