At the opening, the FBM KLCI index started 9.39 points at 1,431.9 before falling 5.18 points at 1,436.11 compared to Tuesday's close at 1,441.29.


In the broader market, losses at 152 outpaced gains at 141, while 195 counters were unchanged, 1,813 untraded and 84 suspended.


Total revenue at 209.97 million units worth RM99.28 million.


According to Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian political scenario that is still waiting for the appointment of the new 10th Prime Minister is irritating investors while non-politically related stocks continue to attract attention.


It is understood that investors are looking for stocks with strong fundamentals such as banking, telecommunications and utilities despite the country's political uncertainty.



Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd added that the index range is expected to hover between 1,430-1,450 and the sentiment will now remain until the appointment is completed.


Heavyweight stocks saw Public Bank Bhd down 1 sen at RM4.28, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd down 2 sen at RM8.68, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) lost 9 sen at RM8.35 and Hong Leong Bank Bhd down 6 sen at RM20. .50.


Maybank remained at RM8.54 while CIMB Group Holdings Bhd and IHH Healthcare Bhd added 1 sen at RM5.52 and RM5.93.


Active stocks showed Advance Synergy Bhd remained at 18 sen, Eca Integrated Solution Bhd rose 53.3 sen to 70.5 sen, Eden Inc Bhd added 1.5 sen to 19 sen, Malayan United Industries Bhd jumped 0.5 sen to 10.5 sen, Malaysia Steel Works (KL) Bhd and PA Resources Bhd added 1 sen at 43.5 sen and 26.5 sen.


On the index board, the FBM Emas Index closed 25.91 points at 10,221.25, the FBM Emas Shariah index fell 28.8 points at 10,350.46, the FBMT 100 index lost 26.86 points at 9,949.77, the FBM ACE fell 61.82 points at 4,910.61 while the FBM 70 gained 3.48 points at 12,207.11


In terms of sectors, the Financial Services index fell 30.04 points at 16,141.87, the Products and Services index fell 0.13 points at 178.72, the Plantation index fell 51.38 points at 6,790.84 and the Energy index gained 0.18 points at 729.46.
