'There are actually many Dell fans in the US so it's no wonder that the company can still make a profit.'

Despite the decline in global computer (PC) sales performance, Dell Technologies Inc still posted a 68% increase in quarterly operating profit.

According to Dell's corporate earnings report, the success was achieved based on factors such as strengthening demand for servers and network equipment and supply chain recovery in cost containment.

Additionally, the company's revenue after accounting for businesses in servers, storage equipment and software appliances also jumped 12% in the 3rd quarter (Q3) as demand for PCs eased.

In general, the demand for PC products up to laptops experienced a decrease during the period of movement restrictions (lockdown) starting to be relaxed around the world.

At the time of the pandemic, global PC sales increased when most companies and users chose to work from home (work from home), causing a supply problem.

Back to Dell's earnings report, consumer revenue fell 29% while corporate or commercial revenue fell 13%.

It brought total revenue down 6% at $24.72 billion but still managed to beat the $24.54 billion market estimate.

Meanwhile, Dell's operating expenses fell 8% in Q3 with the company seen benefiting from a supply chain recovery.

Other data that came into focus was that the company's net income shrank 93% at $241 million after paying $1 billion to settle lawsuits in 2018 and operating income rose $1.76 billion from $1.05 billion a year ago.

As of this writing Dell shares are down 2.32% at $41.07 with a company capitalization of $30.10 billion.
