Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. may join other foreign companies to leave the Russian market.

According to Russian news channel Izvestia, the Chinese tech giant has completely stopped all direct shipments of smartphones to the country, including imports of tablets, laptops and other devices.

However, Huawei in Russia said that they have no information about this.

Earlier this year, media reported Huawei was scaling back its operations in Russia by stopping taking new contracts to supply network equipment to operators in Moscow.

This may be part of the company's move to avoid being targeted by Western sanctions following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

In the meantime, the close relationship between China and Russia is certainly well known and the news about Huawei's withdrawal will surely trigger many questions from many parties.

Huawei has previously been a victim of the trade war between the United States and China that was triggered by the previous US administration under President Donald Trump.

The tensions later eased after the US reached a phase 1 trade deal with China and after President Joe Biden took over the administration.
