On November 24, 2022, after 4 consecutive days of suspension of the National Parliament, Dato Seri Haji Anwar bin Ibrahim was officially announced as the 10th Prime Minister (PM) of Malaysia.
The matter was confirmed by Istana Negara itself at approximately 1.39pm with Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim about to be sworn in at 5pm today.
In a statement issued by Istana Negara, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah approved the appointment of Dato Seri Anwar after holding special discussions with the Malay Rulers.
Add to the statement that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong called on all members of parliament to unite in order to safeguard the country's future.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong also said that the country is a treasure entrusted by various leaders and it needs to be taken care of to be passed down to future generations.
According to Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Istana Negara, Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, the appointment of the chairman of Pakatan Harapan was made in accordance with Article 40(2)(a) and Article 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution.
