NTT Docomo, Japan's leading mobile phone operator successfully signed an agreement with Accenture to explore internet technology in the Web 3 world with an investment of 500 to 600 billion yen ($4 billion).
It is understood that Accenture will offer training courses related to the field for anyone interested.
In this development effort, NTT Docomo and its partners will focus on three main things, namely addressing ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) issues*, creating a technology platform for Web3 and developing talent.
*Used to screen investments based on corporate policy and encourage companies to act responsibly.
To achieve its goal of driving the adoption of Web 3 globally, offering various benefits to users and making Japan the hub of the technology, the company will contribute $4 billion to accelerate the effort.
According to Motoyuki Li, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NTT Docamo, the collaboration with Accenture will revolutionize social infrastructure using blockchain and create a safe environment for users.
He added that he was confident that Web3 would grow rapidly and described it as the most effective technological development after the Internet.
Meanwhile, Acenture's Senior Managing Director, Atsushi Egawa commented that Web3 has contributed various benefits to the Japanese economy, especially in facilitating local companies and the government to deal with climate issues.
In addition to NTT Docomo, British Vodafone is also one of the telecommunications firms that delved into cryptocurrency by collaborating with Energy Web (EW) to improve renewable energy assets such as wind turbines, heat pumps, batteries and solar panels.
In addition, Spanish telecom Telefonica joined forces with Bit2Me in allowing customers to pay for services through digital assets Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), USDC and others.
