The country's low-cost airline industry was boosted by the presence of MYAirline which successfully made its maiden flight to Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Langkawi from Kuala Lumpur.
The company led by Rayner Teo safely landed a ship with a record load of over 80% to Kota Kinabalu yesterday, indicating that demand for domestic low-cost travel remains high.
Teo also stated that the success of MYAirline's inaugural flight is a starting point that will re-stimulate Malaysia's tourism activities with the company offering cheap fares chosen by citizens.
Equipped with Airbus A320-200 aircraft, MYAirline operates by making 2 flights a day to Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Langkawi and will make 3 flights a day starting December 23.
In addition, MYAirline also plans to add other domestic destinations such as Kota Bharu, Penang and Sibu in the first quarter (Q1) of 2023 and schedule flights to the Asean region in Q2.
In the meantime, MYAirline's first appearance was also well received by Langkawi development authority, Nasaruddin Abdul Muttalib and Sabah Tourism board member, Noredah Othman.
Each of them expressed their congratulations by underlining that MYAirline's involvement will help the country's tourism activities to return to full swing after almost 2 years of being blocked.
