'Like in the movie the US managed to break the smuggling of nuclear weapons from the bad guys.'
The Department of Justice of the United States (US) charged 7 individuals (5 Russians and 2 local citizens) suspected of being involved in the acquisition and laundering of illegal money on behalf of the Moscow government.
It was also filed that the individuals smuggled military technology including sniper ammunition from a US firm, in violation of sanctions against Russia.
In addition, one of the Russians is said to hold the portfolio of a Federal Security Service (FSB) officer.
The US Department of Justice said that the individuals illegally bought and exported sensitive and tightly controlled electronic goods.
Further reviews found that the 'stolen' technology could be used in the development of nuclear and hypersonic weapons or quantum computing and other military applications.
On that factor Attorney General, Merrick Garland said that the US will not tolerate a criminal scheme related to the Russian military war.
For now 3 out of 7 have been arrested and the US side is said to have succeeded in breaking what is considered to be the acquisition of world war weapons.
So far the accused individuals and the Russian government have not released any statements regarding the ongoing investigation.
