German giant Mercedes-Benz Group AG has reportedly filed 5 metaverse and non-fungible token (NFT) trademark applications through the United States (US) Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
It is understood that the 5 applications are for Mercedes Benz, Mercedes, S-Class, G-Class, and Maybach that will launch NFT collections in the future by allowing cryptocurrency to be traded.
In general, the plan for the "Maybach" model is said to be to create a crypto collection that features both digital and physical collections based on animal fur, blankets, rugs and mats.
While the NFT model "S-Class" will see audio recordings, image files, music and multimedia files that include artwork, text, audio, images including video.
Earlier, Mercedes also tested the implementation of blockchain technology to ensure that contract documentation is always consistent, but now the company intends to create NFTs that can be used in the virtual world such as the metaverse.
Meanwhile, Daimler's Southeast Asian subsidiary Mercedes successfully developed a blockchain-based data-sharing platform on Polygon earlier this year that allows users to exchange data from insurance information or clinical trials to other businesses.
On the other hand, the Formula One Racing team, Mercedes-AMG Petronas, which signed an agreement with crypto exchange FTX earlier, has removed its logo from its racing car after filing for bankruptcy.
In fact, Mercedes-AMG Petronas and FTX which launched its own NFT collection for the Miami Grand Prix are now reaching the end of the follow-up without any value.
