A cargo ship carrying Ukrainian grain to China has reportedly run aground in the Suez Canal.

Canal services firm Leth said the MV Glory ran aground near the town of Qantara, in the Suez Canal region of Ismailia.

The ship is a Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier reportedly carrying more than 65,000 tons of corn from Ukraine bound for China.

However, after several hours of efforts to float the ship, the Suez Canal authorities said the ship was successfully floated and traffic was restored.

This news turned out to bring relief to many parties, not to mention that it reminds of the incident of the ship Ever Given which in March 2021 got stuck and affected the world's busiest trade route.

It took authorities 6 days to refloat the ship which has stranded hundreds of ships and affected $9 billion in global trade every day.

The Suez Canal is one of the world's most important waterways with 120 miles hosting 30% of global shipping container traffic and 12% of all global trade worth approximately $1 trillion annually.
