"Women actually know a lot about crypto, they just don't want to stir the world."
Since its launch in 2019, Luno Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the first cryptocurrency exchange company approved by the Malaysian Securities Commission revealed that its female users have increased by 20% from 12%.
According to Scarlett Chai, Luno's head of marketing said that she is excited to see many Malaysian women getting interested and delving into the world of crypto to achieve financial freedom.
Chai also intends to host more talks on crypto and personal finance to further encourage women to participate in technology, where Luno believes they have the potential to have a positive impact in the future.
Through Luno's observations, as many as 96% of its female users in Malaysia buy crypto for investment purposes, and it should be known that 56% of them buy the world's most popular digital asset, Bitcoin (BTC).
The majority of transaction activity for female users aged 30 and 39 is over 60%, age 50 to 59 around 13% and 40 to 49 almost 12.4% who come from various career backgrounds such as education, accounting and healthcare.
However, it should be noted that the figure today may be higher as the data above is from 2021.
Among the reasons why women are increasingly interested in exploring the crypto market is due to the potential performance of BTC compared to traditional finance and when more women are starting to talk about the digital asset and share their investing experience.
While female investors in Malaysia who now easily download any application needed to get involved in crypto is also one of the reasons.
