"There are many ETH upgrades, but investors should not be dizzy."

After The Merge, the expected implementation of Shanghai's Ethereum (ETH) upgrade in March is getting closer to the developer's goal of allowing staking withdrawals of the cryptocurrency from the Beacon Chain.

According to Tim Beiko, the lead developer of ETH stated that the Sepolia Shapella upgrade will be launched on February 28, where the Shapella (Shanghai/Capella) upgrade will be activated on the Sepolia tesnet*.

*Blockchain powered by the same or newer software to be used as testing

The upgrade will allow validators to move ETH staking from the Beacon Chain to the execution layer** including introducing several new functions on both the execution and consensus layers***.

**Blockchain that provides the application environment and processes transactions

***Enforcement of network rules that describe what nodes in the network must do to reach consensus about transactions including block generation and verification

While the Shapella upgrade will see changes to the execution layer (Shanghai) and consensus (Capella) including Engine API.

Although ETH holders do not need to make any upgrades, staking node operators or stakers must upgrade nodes to switch to Sepolia.

Previously, the main developer of ETH discovered bugs while the Shapella network was in the process of testing the digital asset's largest client and was found to be having difficulty syncing with the Zhejiang token.

While other customers have also reported similar issues but the developer is confident that the matter will not have any impact on the Sepolia upgrade which will be launched on February 28.

As of this writing, the price of ETH has plunged by 3.48% at $1,647 in the past 24 hours with a market cap of $201 billion.
