Capital A Shares Highest in 15 Months, AirAsia X Strongest in 3 Years!

Capital A Bhd hit a 15-month high on Thursday after extending gains for the fourth consecutive day.


In this morning's trade, it jumped to 83.5 sen before paring some gains to trade at 82 sen (as of 4.00pm).


This strengthening was also followed by AirAsia X Bhd which saw a surge to break through RM1 on Wednesday for the first time since June 2020, and traded at RM1.13 today.


Earlier, Capital A announced the appointment of its commercial president Colin Currie as chief executive officer of airasia Digital who will lead the roadmap to grow the company's digital business.


Meanwhile, chief investment officer John Cheing was authorized as the chief financial officer of airasia Digital and airasia Super Apl from March 1.



Both Capital A and AirAsia X have fallen to Practice Note 17 status due to the Covid-19 pandemic affecting their finances.


AirAsia now has only about 7 weeks until the April 28 deadline to submit its restructuring plan to the stock exchange.


Capital A still has more time to implement the restructuring as it has to submit its plan on July 7.


Based on 13 analysts, five ratings are set to a 'buy' target, while another five recommend investors to 'hold', and three more issue a 'sell' recommendation.


The target price is set in a wide range between 40 sen and RM1.25.
