"Is Bluesky better than Twitter or just two times five?"

Social media platform Twitter was reported to have experienced an outage on March 1st yesterday and it happened to be the same day Jack Dorsey was conducting a beta test for his new project dubbed Bluesky.

The Twitter issue was resolved within five hours after 59% of the platform's users complained about problems on the mobile app while another 35% on the website.

Twitter has yet to explain the cause of the outage, but various reports indicate that the "Following" and "For You" feeds are not displaying any tweets or content for users.

Since Elon Musk took over Twitter, the number of employees at the company has been reduced from 7,500 to 2,000 while recently also laying off another 200 employees, where product managers, scientists and engineers are among the workers let go.

As Twitter grapples with the problem, Dorsey's decentralized social media platform, Bluesky, is moving into private beta testing after the platform has been available on the Apple App Store since February 17 with more than 2,000 downloads.

Bluesky, which emerged as a byproduct of Twitter in 2019, aims to create an open and decentralized standard for social media.

In the meantime, Twitter is developing a payment feature for the app that will likely implement cryptocurrency functionality in the future.
