The meeting with 'old friends' in Beijing last week seems to have yielded results after Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed AI technology from the United States including Microsoft to China.
According to Reuters citing the statement of two sources, the meeting between Xi Jinping and the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates has involved discussions on increasing the use of AI globally.
Not only that, but it was also reported that Xi Jinping also discussed the development of Microsoft's business in the country.
Even so, information about the discussion was not revealed in the report of the meeting published by the Chinese state.
Earlier, Xi said China should seize the opportunity to use AI to drive economic development, but also warned of the risks.
It has prompted the government to consider new laws on the technology as well as regulations for generative AI.
The visit of Bill Gates, who is called an old friend by Xi Jinping, took place in the middle of US-China relations that were strained following the Taiwan issue.
