The precious metal gold traded steady on Wednesday after erratic volatility in the previous session.

During the Asian session, gold traded hovering around $1,900 per ounce, while gold futures were little changed at $1,929 per ounce.

Gold prices showed volatile movements on Tuesday, rising as high as $1,903 before easing back to $1,889 an ounce.

The dollar index hovered around a two-month high, while the 10-year US bond yield stopped making gains after reaching its strongest level in 16 years.

This indirectly gives some room for the yellow metal to find support to slightly rise from its lowest level.

The annual symposium in Jackson Hole later this week will be watched by investors for any indication of how far the Federal Reserve (Fed) interest rate may rise.

Meanwhile in the latest statement on Tuesday, Richmond Fed President Thomas Barkin said that the central bank needs to reach the 2% target to ensure its credibility.
