Recently, Saudi Aramco has expressed interest in making Malaysia an oil and gas hub for Saudi Arabia in Southeast Asia.

It is seen as a good opportunity for the country to further develop the economy and will attract more large investors to invest in Malaysia.

However, where is the ideal location for this expansion?

Speaking at a program at Wakaf Tapai on Wednesday night, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that he had proposed the Saudi Arabian oil giant to invest in Kemaman, Terengganu.

It is understood that the chairman of Aramco, Yasir O Al-Rumayyan was initially interested in making Johor the center of its expansion.

In his further statement, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah met with Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud during the recent hajj.

At that time, His Majesty was informed that Saudi Arabia's investment in Asia would be based in Malaysia.
