The Dow Jones was supported by a strong performance in 3M shares, which jumped 5% amid reports of its lawsuit settlement.

The stock market fell lower on Friday after Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman Jerome Powell's speech indicated more interest rate hikes in an effort to fight inflation.

However, at the same time the central bank will proceed cautiously with additional increases in interest rates.

Following on from that, investors now see another interest rate hike by the central bank will be implemented by the end of this year.

In the meantime, investors remain vigilant this week which will be filled with high-impact data such as gross domestic product (GDP), consumer personal spending and US NFP employment.
