Kim Jong Un has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit North Korea as the two leaders hold their first face-to-face summit in Moscow.

According to the North Korean news agency KCNA, Putin accepted the invitation although there was no immediate confirmation from the Kremlin.

During the meeting, the North Korean leader was shown the most modern space launch facility in Russia, in addition to holding discussions with their defense ministers.

Joining Kim's delegation to Moscow are the defense minister, the supreme commander of the military and the director of the country's weapons department.

Kim Jong Un's visit to Russia has raised concerns in the United States that Kim may be willing to sell weapons to Moscow for its war in Ukraine.

Washington has even accused North Korea of providing weapons to Russia, but it is unclear whether any shipments have been made.

Russia and North Korea have denied the allegations, but pledged to strengthen their defense cooperation.

On Thursday, Kim will be taken on a tour of military and civilian aviation factories in the Russian city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Russia's Pacific fleet in Vladivostok.
