Today (Tuesday), Bursa Malaysia recorded an upward trend until this afternoon as a result of buying support in heavyweight stocks.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM KLCI) jumped 7.95 points to 1,453.13 from 1,445.18 when it closed last week. The main index opened 0.28 points lower at 1,444.90.
According to the overall market, the counters that made a profit were as many as 430 and the counters that lost were 392. 415 counters showed no change and 1,142 counters were not traded and nine- others were suspended.
The total value of trade is 1.88 billion units worth RM 871.43 Million.
At exactly 12.30 this afternoon, Bursa's heavyweight shares namely Public Bank rose four sen to RM4.20, Genting jumped 15 sen to RM4.30, Petronas Chemicals and Maxis each added seven sen to RM7.26 and RM4.10. Maybank and CelcomDigi increased four sen to RM9.12 and RM4.29.
Meanwhile, active shares such as Hong Seng and Widad both rose half a sen to 5.0 sen and 46 sen. Fitters were flat at 5.5 cents.
In addition, local retail investors extended their net sales for the fifth consecutive week with a value of RM125.5 million.
In terms of participation, there was an increase in foreign investors of 8.5%, local retailers 10.1% and local institutions 11.2%.
