The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced 10 Cabinet line changes as well as the division of two ministries as part of the Cabinet reshuffle that was announced last Tuesday.
Among the focus is the Minister of Finance II is the Chief Executive Officer of the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF), Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan who was previously appointed as a senator in the National Assembly.
Deputy Minister of Education, Lim Hui Ying is now appointed Deputy Minister of Finance and Steven Sim is made the new Minister of Human Resources.
Another Deputy Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan was transferred to the Ministry of Public Works as his deputy minister.
Deputy Prime Minister II, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof will take over the transitional portfolio of Energy and Public Utilities and still supervise the affairs of Sabah and Sarawak.
Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir who was previously Deputy Minister of Local Government Development has been changed to Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Public Utilities.
Meanwhile, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad will now lead the Ministry of Natural Resources and Sustainability and Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii as his deputy.
The two ministries led by Nik Nazmi and Fadillah were split into the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change before.
Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (Mat Sabu) who was appointed as Minister of Defense has now been changed to Minister of Foreign Affairs with Datuk Mohamad Alamin remaining as his deputy.
Datuk Dzulkefli Ahmad has now been re-appointed as Minister of Health where he was previously appointed under Tun Dr Mahathir's administration in 2018. Meanwhile, Fahmi Fadzil was appointed as the new Minister of Communications.
In total, as many as 10 Cabinet changes namely Fadillah, Khaled, Mat Sabu, Dr Zaliha and Armizan from the original Cabinet. Meanwhile, the other five are new faces.
