America urges the UN to intervene in the ceasefire in Rafah

This is the second push by the United States (US) since October 7 to propose a Security Council resolution on Gaza. Russia and China have used their first veto power at the end of October.

Although the US is ready to protect Israel with its veto later, UN Director of the International Crisis Group Richard Gowan is confident that the Zionist country will consider the decision drawn up by Washington.

He said again, the text presented by the US will clearly give a warning sign to Netanyahu for his actions in crushing the Palestinians in Rafah. It is the strongest signal the US has sent to the UN to date.

This warning threatens Israel's position so that they cannot rely entirely on diplomatic relations with the US forever.

Senior US Administration II officials said in the draft the United States does not propose any dynamic results from any particular relationship with either Israel or any other partner.

The US draft text condemns the actions of some Israeli government ministers who propose for the Jewish people to explore the Gaza area and they will reject any attempt to change the geography of the map in the Gaza region which would violate international law.

Throughout the conflict, Gaza's health authorities announced that 29,000 Palestinians had been killed, with thousands more feared dead in the rubble.

Last December, more than three-quarters of the 193 members of the UN General Assembly voted to demand an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

General Assembly resolutions do not decide official decisions but their decisions are more directed to political problems and the global situation as a whole.
