The main stock of Bursa Malaysia, FBM KLCI remained in positive movement this afternoon (Tuesday) due to continuous buying activity in selected heavyweight stocks, especially the utility sector.
YTL Corp Bhd rose 18 sen to RM2.68 per share and YTL Power International Bhd rose 12 sen to RM4.18. This counter pulls the composite up with a combined 4.91 points.
At 12.30pm, the benchmark index had risen to 1,553.93 from Monday's close of 1,547.60.
The benchmark index opened 2.08 points weaker at 1,545.52 and now moves between 1,545.16 to 1,554.25 in this morning's session.
However, market sentiment was broadly negative with losers outpacing gainers with 580 over 409. Meanwhile, 400 counters were unchanged, 920 were untraded and 47 others were suspended.
The total turnover was 2.21 billion units worth RM1.49 billion.
According to Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd's statement, they expect the YTL company to remain the focus of investors because its shares are considered cheap based on forward valuation.
They are also attracted to the technology sector following the release of stronger results from D&O Green Technologies Bhd at a time of stronger demand attraction from the automotive segment.
In addition, a counter showing strong results from Public Packages Holdings Bhd provides an opportunity for improvement for the packaging industry.
Meanwhile, heavyweights such as CelcomDigi Bhd rose five sen to RM4.39 per share, Axiata Group Bhd rose four sen to RM2.78, while Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd fell 12 sen to RM6.87 and MISC Bhd fell four sen to RM7. 47 .
Of the active stocks, Hong Seng Consolidated Bhd at 2.5 sen and TWL Holdings Bhd at four sen each gained half a sen, and PUC Bhd rose 1.5 sen to six sen, but Cape EMS Bhd slipped 17.5 sen to 95.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index rose 27.46 points stronger at 11,524.74, the FBMT 100 Index rose 32.12 points to 11,180.81, the FBM Emas Shariah Index rose 12.64 points to 11,542.56, but the FBM Index fell to 11,542.56, but the FBM Index fell to 70.
