Here are some of the important economic data that will be the focus of the market throughout this week.
TUESDAY (May 7, 2024)
RBA Policy Meeting (12.30 Noon) – Australia's central bank is seen to be facing a similar situation as the Federal Reserve when the country's inflation rate also recorded a rise again. Interest rates are expected to remain on hold, but the governor's follow-up speech will be more of a priority for investors.
THURSDAY (May 9, 2024)
BOE Policy Meeting (7.00 PM) – The central bank of England is expected to keep the interest rate unchanged at 5.25% and the vote of all members of the meeting is expected to agree to keep the rate unchanged.
US Jobless Benefit Claims Data (7.30pm) – This week's benefits claims figure will be watched with not much variation for the next few months. But the increased numbers will give a negative signal to the labor sector in America.
FRIDAY (May 10, 2024)
UK GDP Data (2.00 PM) – The UK economy's monthly growth for March is expected to be the same as the previous month to grow at a rate of 1.0%. Some other co-published data will also be noted.
Canada Jobs Data (8.30 PM) – Canada is expected to add 20,900 jobs in April after the economy lost 2,200 jobs the previous month. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate is predicted to increase from 6.1% to 6.2%.
UoM Survey of US Consumer Sentiment (10.00 PM) – Survey data by the University of Michigan will show figures for consumer sentiment in America with a slightly lower forecast compared to the previous month. Will also be published along with the inflation forecast survey in America.
